AthenaHQ alternatives (2026): priced, with engines per plan

AthenaHQ, whose own site mostly calls the product Athena (some people write it Athena HQ or Athena AI), tracks 11 engines on its Starter plan and lists Shopify and Webflow integrations. Teams look elsewhere for a lower paid entry point, predictable prompt-based pricing, or more than one market without Enterprise.

AthenaHQ covers a lot of ground: a free Essential tier to start, 11 engines on its $295 Starter plan, and on-page and off-page actions with Shopify and Webflow integrations (the eight-CMS list we saw on 26 September no longer appears on its plans page as of 17 October 2026). For a team whose site runs on one of those and whose budget starts near $300 a month, it is a strong option. The reasons teams look further are about how that value is packaged: the jump from free to paid, credits instead of prompts, and a single market until Enterprise. This guide groups the alternatives by the reason you'd switch. Every fact comes from each vendor's own pages, checked on 26 September 2026, with Semrush, AthenaHQ, Ahrefs, Rankscale, Scrunch and Profound re-checked on 17 October 2026.

Our bias, stated up front: Stellarcast is our product, and it is one of the options below. We've kept every other entry to what its own site says. For the same comparison written from the enterprise side, see our Profound alternatives guide.

Where Stellarcast fits

Stellarcast checks Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot daily on every plan from $39 a month, with measurement priced by tracked prompts rather than credits. From $89 it drafts fixes and publishes the ones you approve to WordPress, and from $249 it labels every lift claim MEASURED, LIKELY or TOO-EARLY.

If you want a paid plan under $295: Stellarcast

Stellarcast is built around a loop: monitor, diagnose, execute, prove, and every step of it is available below AthenaHQ's Starter price. Lite ($39) checks Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot daily. Diagnosis turns those results into specific gaps: a buyer question where a competitor is named and you are not.

From the $89 Starter plan, Stellarcast drafts a fix for each gap. Nothing publishes until you approve it, every approval is recorded with the change it made, and approved fixes go live on WordPress. From Growth ($249), every lift claim sits in a ledger labeled MEASURED, LIKELY or TOO-EARLY, so you never report a number you can't defend. See the plans.

Where AthenaHQ is the better fit: its free tier costs nothing, its Starter tracks 11 engines, and it lists Shopify and Webflow integrations where Stellarcast sends drafts to WordPress.

If you want predictable prompt-based pricing: Stellarcast, Semrush or Scrunch

Several alternatives sell a fixed number of prompts rather than a pool of credits, which makes a month's coverage easy to predict. Stellarcast's plans include 15, 30 or 90 tracked prompts (Lite, Starter, Growth), each checked daily on every engine we run. Semrush bundles its AI Visibility Toolkit into plans from $139 a month, with 50 tracked prompts a day on the $199 Starter plan across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google Search (the standalone $99 per-domain toolkit we listed on 26 September no longer appears on its pricing page as of 17 October 2026). Scrunch Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot.

Credits are not unusual, to be fair: Rankscale also uses them, and its engines consume credits at different rates. Credits suit a team that wants to vary its mix month to month; prompts suit one that wants the same coverage every day.

If you need more than one market without an Enterprise contract: Stellarcast

AthenaHQ's Starter covers a single market, and Peec AI's Starter covers one country too. On Stellarcast, adding a market draws on your tracked-prompt allowance: each prompt tracked in each market counts once against your plan's tracked-prompt allowance, and each market is measured with native-language prompts.

If you need very broad language coverage and a sales-led contract suits you, Profound lists 30+ languages, and nine engines on Enterprise, after a free 7-day trial.

If budget is the constraint: Otterly.AI or Rankscale

Otterly's Lite plan is $29 a month and includes ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, with Gemini, AI Mode and Claude as paid add-ons; it offers a 14-day trial with no card. Rankscale's Essentials plan is $17 a month billed yearly only ($20 list; Pro is $99) and covers 21 engines on every plan, more than AthenaHQ's Starter, though engines consume credits at different rates. Neither publishes fixes to your site; both are trackers first.

If you already pay for an SEO or marketing suite: Semrush, Ahrefs or HubSpot

Semrush's toolkit (above) sits inside the Semrush suite. Ahrefs Brand Radar combines a large pre-built index of AI answers (the AI Visibility Index from $199 a month; custom prompt packages from $50 a month, or $699 for all models) with custom prompts on its paid plans, from $129 a month with 5 custom prompts. HubSpot AEO offers low-cost tracking inside HubSpot from $50 a month across three engines. Each is strongest when you want AI visibility next to data your team already uses; Semrush and Ahrefs don't describe publishing fixes.

If you need Shopify, Webflow or many CMSs: AthenaHQ or Profound

If Shopify or Webflow integration is why you chose AthenaHQ, it is hard to replace at a listed price. Profound's Agents also publish to ten CMSs, including WordPress, Contentful, Webflow and Sanity, with every run stopping at an approval step, but its brand plan is custom-priced and agencies pay $399 a month per client workspace. Writesonic, Knowatoa and Goodie also publish approved changes to a CMS, usually on their higher tiers.

The question to ask any tool that drafts and publishes: does the pipeline start from the prompts you are losing, and can it show afterwards whether a published change moved anything? Drafting and publishing are the easy half.
